Turn around at the end of the board-walk and run to the northern end. Turn again and run back along the boardwalk back to the transition area. The second run is identical to the first.

TRANSITION AREA: In order to protect your bike and equipment, please make sure that only competitors  are in the transition area. No friends and/or family should accompany competitors inside the barriers. Bicycles must be properly placed on assigned racks corresponding to race number. NO riding in the transition area! Bikes and equipment may be removed by competitors ONLY upon showing BOTH the run number and bike number to security personnel.

WARNING: The transition area is circled by blue NYPD wood barricades. To enter or exit the transition area you MUST use either of the openings that are manned by security personnel. Do not go over or under the blue NYPD wood barricades for any reason. You will receive a 2 minute penalty (without warnings) for each infraction.

BIKE COURSE: The 20 mile bike course is held on the three north-bound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway, between the Cross Bronx/Bruckner interchange and the New England Thruway, a distance of 4.5 miles (measured between 2 "turn" cones). The course starts at the Orchard Beach parking lot and proceeds south for 0.5 mi. Turn right and bike west, past the traffic circle on Shore Road. Enter the extreme right northbound lane of the Hutch and bike north until the large "turn" cone located near the New England Thruway exit. Turn around and bike south to the "turn" cone located at the Cross Bronx/Bruckner interchange. Turn again and bike north to the northern turn around point (New England Thruway). Continue for a SECOND time to the south "turn", exiting the parkway at the Orchard Beach on the way back to the transition area.

A competitor who has three “drafting reports” filed by other competitors will automatically receive a two minute penalty.

WARNING! Know when and where to exit the Parkway on your way back to the transition area (after completing 2 complete loops). The Police officers stationed at the Orchard Beach exit will not notify bikers when they have completed their two loops on the Parkway.

CAUTION/SLOW DOWN! Hold handlebars with BOTH hands and use extreme caution when cycling across the draw bridge near the Orchard Beach exit. The metal grating becomes very slippery on wet or rainy days. You may elect to walk across the grating part of the bridge if weather conditions make the grating too slippery to ride. Under no circumstances may you pass another competitor on any part of the bridge!

CENTER LANE!:
The center lane on the Parkway is OFF LIMITS to competitors and is reserved for Official race vehicles. Competitors entering the center lane, even to overtake a pack of riders, will be penalized without warning!
