NYTRI duathlon is coming to Brooklyn, Prospect Park, on 4/8. We are all very excited because there are several big triathlon clubs in Brooklyn. The Prospect Park is where most of them train and race. Some NYTRI club members are from Brooklyn and we love our Prospect Park. The Prospect Park Spring Duathlon is the first duathlon of the season for some of us.
The race starts and finishes by the E Lake Dr/Well House Dr, not far from the boat house and Lincoln Playground. Both runs are 2.1 miles each, and looping around the inner small park loop, avoiding the hill leading up to the Grand Army Plaza. The run route has no significant elevation gain. Maybe some rolling hills sections as you make across to the west side of the park, through the Center Dr.
The bike route consists of 3 loops around the entire park drive, total of 10 miles. 160 ft elevation gain per loop. It is challenging but easily doable if you can pace yourself well. The average time to finish one loop is about 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
