What’s up, New York! We had such a blast tearing up Prospect Park with you this past weekend. Thanks again to all athletes, volunteers and spectators who came out!

This was an even more special race for us because we got to sit down with Jonathan Cane at @coachcane

Coach Cane is an endurance coach, writer, speaker and has a degree in exercise science. He is the co-author of “Triathlon Anatomy” and “Run Healthy”, as well as a frequent contributor to Triathlete Magazine. All of this  would have already made Coach Cane a great person to sit down and chat with, but he has ALSO been doing NYTRI events since 1987! Once we found this out, we knew we had to learn as much as we could about the early days of racing New York City.

If you’d like to know more about Coach Cane, check him out here: https://www.coachcane.com/

Man, was it windy on the race day morning! 💨 Congrats to all the finishers and winners! 🎉 Thank you for joining us in our Brooklyn opener, Prospect Park Spring Duathlon! It was no small feat to run the second loop around the entire park. 🔥 🔥 👏 This was our first time having the 2nd run around the entire park. I hope you all loved it! 😈 ❤️

Here is a short video recap of our race this morning!

😃 Sophie is one of the most positive and eager athletes I’ve ever met and she’s quite hard to keep up on the West Side Highway. A relative newbie when it comes to triathlon, but a very accomplished swimmer & runner in her own right, listen to the full interview for some hilarious advice! 🗣️😅

Some tips from our race director George regarding how to setup your bike in the transition! 🚲 George here with a quick tip about racking your bike on race day 🚲 — You’re gonna want to alternate how your bike is hung to the person next to you. This not only saves space but makes it much easier to pick up your bike during T1 and alleviates confusion when dropping it off in T2. — The more you know! 🌈 💡 —

Jacob is a monster cyclist but when he first dipped his toes into multi-sport racing, he was an absolute beginner! A gifted athlete with an insane work ethic, Jacob progressed into running a sub-3 hour marathon within his first 3 years as a runner! 🚴🏼➡️🏃🏻

Check out the video to learn more and make sure to say hi to Jacob when he speeds past you on the race course, who knows, you just might catch him! 🐇

We sit down with Jason and to find out why he loves our sport! Jason loves to swim, bike & run, but what he loves most is to challenge himself! Check out his story and say hi next time you see him zipping past you on the Midland Beach boardwalk or at IM Maryland (this guy loves Maryland)! 🦀

We sit down with Mary, a member of the Beasts From Riis Triathlon Club! Mary is a born and bred New Yorker AND athlete, an avid runner since elementary school all the way through her time at Manhattan College. Like so many of us, Mary picked up cycling during 2020 and fell in love with the sport. From her first duathlon with NYTRI to cycling the ENTIRE Empire State Trail from NYC to Canada, Mary is one heck of a competitor!!!
