training plan for his first ironman 70.3
Posted 6.10.24
Listen to our race director Hunter talking about his training plan for his first Ironman 70.3! Leave comments on our IG account at @New York Triathlon
—————–
How do you plan your training weeks?
When I began training for my first 70.3, I read that you could break down the race TIME SPENT into fractions, in this case “sixths”:
1/6 =
2/6 =
—
This helped me to focus my training and to make sure I was dedicating enough training time to each discipline. Of course, there are hundreds of ways to train. What does your week look like ?

Thanks to all of you for joining us on Sunday for our first triathlon of 2024! If this was your first event with us, or even your first triathlon, congratulations! The open water swim at the Rockaway Beach has always been very challenging with the early season cooler water temperature. It can be very intimidating, but you all did so well! Congrats to all the winners and finishers!

Jonathan Cane

What’s up, New York! We had such a blast tearing up Prospect Park with you this past weekend. Thanks again to all athletes, volunteers and spectators who came out!
This was an even more special race for us because we got to sit down with Jonathan Cane at @coachcane.
Coach Cane is an endurance coach, writer, speaker and has a degree in exercise science. He is the co-author of “Triathlon Anatomy” and “Run Healthy”, as well as a frequent contributor to Triathlete Magazine. All of this would have already made Coach Cane a great person to sit down and chat with, but he has ALSO been doing NYTRI events since 1987! Once we found this out, we knew we had to learn as much as we could about the early days of racing New York City.
If you’d like to know more about Coach Cane, check him out here: https://www.coachcane.com/

setup your bike in transition

Some tips from our race director George regarding how to setup your bike in the transition! 🚲 George here with a quick tip about racking your bike on race day 🚲 — You’re gonna want to alternate how your bike is hung to the person next to you. This not only saves space but makes it much easier to pick up your bike during T1 and alleviates confusion when dropping it off in T2. — The more you know! 🌈 💡 —
