victor chan is our 4th generation race director!
June edition-6.18.25

The biggest news from New York Triathlon is that our board of directors have elected a new race director to carry our NYC triathlon institution forward. Victor is our 4th generation race director to lead the club into the future. Many of you have known him as our official race photographer capturing and producing some of the best triathlon photos you have seen. His photos are being featured on our site as well as on all of our marketing material since late 2020.
He started out working for New York Triathlon as a race photographer back in late 2020. He was already pretty good at what he does and he was already well known in the local NYC bike racing scene. Slowly, he took on more responsibility and roles in the club. By 2024, he was responsible for 60% of the club operations, from race photography, website development, graphic design, marketing, and to race registration page layout and design. He has over 8 years of experience working as a race photographer in multi sport events such as off road triathlon, trail run, gravel race, mountain bike race, and USAC bike race. Understanding the race logistic and the race story telling aspect are second nature to him. You can see the rest of his work at One Imaging Photography! In case you are asking, he is still working as a race photographer for other event promoters as well when he has the chance.
Yes, you will see him carrying his camera and shooting our races while being a race director at the same time! He will build on what George and Hunter have started. Making each race an unique experience, with more unique, high quality swag, while welcoming everyone to race in our races!
Switching to Reusable timing chips

Last year, we began introducing reusable timing chips at selected races. We’re excited to announce that all of our events will now use reusable timing chips to help reduce waste and provide more accurate and reliable race timing. With these chips, you won’t have to worry about them falling off during the race. Your finish time will be recorded with greater precision.⌚️
All participants must return the timing chip at the finish line. Failure to do so will result in a $50 replacement fee. Thank you for helping us create a more sustainable and efficient race experience! 🌈 And remember, timing chip goes to your left ankle!

1st Annual Rockaway Beach Duathlon 7/13/25

We decided to organize an smaller race in July since our season started a bit late. We had some personnel changes. The 1st Annual Rockaway Beach Duathlon on 7/13/25 is a perfect event for first timers getting the feel of the triathlon sport. If you started the season late like us, is a great way to ease in for the remaining months. We are giving out new finisher medals as well.

17th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon 8/10/25

I hope you all have marked your calendar for our 17th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon on 8/10. We all live and breathe for this race each season! Our turnouts are getting bigger each year. We are already at 60% registration cap. Go register soon! We are giving out new finisher medals! We are also looking to increase distance for the first duathlon run to 3 miles, instead of 2.

7th Annual Rockaway Beach Triathlon/Duathlon 9/14/25

Our second favorite triathlon is the 7th Annual Rockaway Beach Triathlon/Duathlon on 9/14. Our May edition maybe too cold for some. The September edition is just perfect. Many can swim in the water without using wetsuits at all. We are giving out new finisher medals too!
