get ready for our first triathlon in 2024!
April edition-4.23.24
The wait is almost over! We are less than 30 days away from our first triathlon in the 2024 season, the Cross Bay Triathlon/Duathlon! This year, we are giving out new hats from Boco and new finisher medals!
We know many of you are very excited for our first triathlon this year. Some of you are nervous as well since we have many first timers signing up. The open water swim is always challenging especially in the Rockaway Beach. Water temperature around this time is in the low to mid 60s. Wetsuits are highly recommended. We hope you take advantage of the 20% off discount with our sponsor Orca when you order your wetsuits!
Not to worry! We have enough life guards to ensure a safe swim and the NYPD Water Patrol will be on duty as well.
Congrats to our winners and all the finishers who competed in our March Classic Duathlon and the Prospect Park Spring Duathlon. Our March season opener went well with all 200+ strong racers starting off their season racing in Central Park. A bit chilly that day but everyone had a good time. Some of you even broke the race record and finished the race in 52 minutes! You can check out the race photos here. For the results, here.
It was certainly unusual windy for our Brooklyn opener on 4/13. It was more unusual because, for the first time, we were doing the 2nd run looping the entire park. The fastest time was 57:14. Some of you took a bit more time to finish. We do hope you all loved the new distance format. We are planning to have the same distance format for our 2025 edition of the race as well. You can check out the race photos here. For the results, here.
PRICE INCREASE ALERT THIS WEEK!
Prices are going up for our 2 races this week! To take advantage of the great saving, please, register early. Don’t wait until the last minutes. Don’t wait until the day after or the week after.

Athlete Highlights
Jonathan Cane
😃 We had such a blast tearing up Prospect Park with you on 4/13 in our Brooklyn Opener, Prospect Park Spring Duathlon! Thanks again to all athletes, volunteers and spectators who came out!
This was an even more special race for us because we got to sit down with Jonathan Cane at @coachcane.
Coach Cane is an endurance coach, writer, speaker and has a degree in exercise science. He is the co-author of “Triathlon Anatomy” and “Run Healthy”, as well as a frequent contributor to Triathlete Magazine. All of this would have already made Coach Cane a great person to sit down and chat with, but he has ALSO been doing NYTRI events since 1987! Once we found this out, we knew we had to learn as much as we could about the early days of racing New York City. If you’d like to know more about Coach Cane, check him out here: https://www.coachcane.com/
