17th annual Rocco Laurie memorial staten Island triathlon/duathlon!

August edition-8.18.25

We kicked off our 17th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon on 8/10! 4 months ago, we didn’t know if it would even happen since we were undergoing some major personnel changes. Everything was on hold. As soon Victor was voted by the our board members and took over the race directorship, we spared no time in jump starting our 2025 season with little time we have. It took us 4 intensive months to prepare for this race from venue permit application, race insurance, street closures, equipment transport logistics, and to additional personnel recruitment to make it happen. To spice things up a bit, DOT was tearing up the road on the bike segment just a week before. The entire bike segment was only completely repaved 2 days before the race day. We were on edge up to the race day.

Thanks to 30+ lifeguards (NYC lifeguards as well as our own volunteers) we hired for the race, and we had no incidents in the swim even with near 300 swimmers! Thanks to NYPD Harbor Patrol for being there to ensure our swim parameter was secured as well. We can’t thank Dariusz and his crew enough!

The weather was just perfect with clear blue sky and all sunshine and warm in the morning! Thank you for everyone joining us on Sunday to make our 17th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon another successful event. We are hoping to make the 2026 edition even better and bigger! Check out our short race video recap here. Our race photos are up and so as our results!
